Best and worst: NFL highlights and lowlights from Week 2

The St. Louis Rams passed on the chance to draft QB Robert Griffin III last spring and instead parlayed their No. 2 choice into three first-round picks from the Washington Redskins. Though the final verdict on the trade is many years away, the Rams looked pretty wise Sunday as incumbent QB Sam Bradford outdueled RGIII, and the Rams notched their first victory for new Head Coach Jeff Fisher 31-28.

Biggest bonehead: Redskins WR Joshua Morgan was goaded into an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty by feisty Rams CB Cortland Finnegan on Washington's final drive. Morgan's meltdown forced K Billy Cundiff to attempt a potential game-tying field goal from 62 yards instead of from 47. Cundiff missed. Badly.

Best payback: While etching themselves into the record book, the New Orleans Saints discount nfl jerseys piled on the points and stats in last year's regular-season finale against the Carolina Panthers. However Cam Newton and Co. earned a measure of revenge Sunday, hanging 35 points and 463 yards on the Saints ... not to mention an 0-2 start.

Best defensive turnaround: A week after their high-priced defense was torched by the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills rebounded by collecting five sacks and three turnovers in their 35-17 rout of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Worst offensive turnaround: After scalding the Bills, the Jets lived down to their preseason woes, managing 10 points and 219 yards in their loss at Pittsburgh. Tim Tebow has yet to throw a pass and largely remained a non-factor, though he did notch one of the club's five rushing first downs with a 22-yard scamper.

Best defensive performance in a losing effort: Browns MLB D'Qwell Jackson recorded three sacks and picked off a pass in Cleveland's loss to the Bengals.

Best Patriots kicker: That would be Adam Vinatieri - who hit two Super Bowl-winning field goals for New England - but served the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday with a 53-yard dagger in the final seconds to beat the Minnesota Vikings. As for the Patriots? Stephen Gostkowski, who is actually the most accurate kicker in team history and was 4-for-5 Sunday, pushed a potential game-winning 42-yarder wide left with 1 second left.

Best backup tight end: A rib injury kept San Diego Chargers star Antonio Gates down. Though he's not going to be Wally Pipp-ed, understudy Dante Rosario scored three TDs on Sunday in the Bolts' blowout of the Tennessee Titans.

Worst starter as a defensive coordinator: In his first two games as the New York Giants defensive coordinator in 2007, Steve Spagnuolo's unit was burned for 80 points and 846 yards. In his first year with the New Orleans Saints, Spagnuolo's charges have already allowed 68 offensive points and 922 yards. The good news? The 2007 Giants won the Super Bowl.

Worst hangover: After basking in their Week 1 win over the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys fell flat 11 days later, getting steamrolled 27-7 by the Seattle Seahawks.

Worst offense: The Jacksonville Jaguars may have ranked dead last in offense last season, yet they still seem to be going backward. Their 117 yards Sunday were a franchise worst, complementing their 0-for-9 third-down conversion rate and 16:43 time of possession. The Jags were hammered 27-7 by the Houston Texans.

Worst field possession: The Oakland Raiders cheap nfl jerseys could've used more from their special teams. Their best starting position in six first-half possessions at Miami was their own 18-yard line.

Best excuses not invoked: The Miami Dolphins won their first home opener in seven years after thumping the Raiders - who had to play in the South Florida humidity with their body clocks ticking at 10 a.m. PT just six days after losing their Monday night opener in Week 1. "I'm not going to use those factors as a crutch," said Raider coach Dennis Allen. "We've got to coach better and play better and they were the better team today. They out-executed us, and we've got to do a better job."

Best wideout tandem: Giants WRs Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz combined for 21 catches, 378 yards and two TDs.

Worst fundamentals: Why do Virginia Tech-bred tailbacks - Ryan Williams, David Wilson - have such trouble holding onto the rock?

Worst handshake: Tom Coughlin and Greg Schiano had cross words after the New York Giants coach took issue with Schiano's Bucs firing into the Giants' O-line on the game's final kneeldown. "It was a little bit of a cheap shot," said Giants QB Eli Manning, who ended up on his backside on the sequence.

Best handshakes: Not surprisingly, the Detroit Lions' Jim Schwartz and San Francisco 49ers' Jim Harbaugh could not have been more pleasant pre- and postgame after their infamous exchange from last year.
